Well I went out and Purchased the New Book about

Leonardtown last week…

                          A Most Convenient Place

                           Leonardtown, Maryland

                                  ~1650 – 1950~

Written by Aleck Loker and Published by

The Commissioners of Leonardtown and Solitude Press.

Price of the Book - $34.95

Available from several businesses in town and the Town

Hall.

A literary Critic I am not. I certainly don’t spend Thirty-five dollars very often on a book. The second thing I noticed about my purchase (the first being the price$$) was

That several numbered pages in the book were blank, no printing, empty, nil. ??

I thought that was “kinda” strange. Maybe this book is a mystery??  Or the missing pages contained something that

They decided was to “HOT” for public consumption..

But that was not the case….I called the  Town Commissioners office and they explained that I had just gotten a defective copy and that if I would bring it in to the Town Office that they would gladly exchange it for me.

After getting past the initial couple of surprises that I just mentioned. I must say that the book proved very entertaining and informative. With lots of Old Pictures of Leonardtown Scenery, Faces, and Local Names. I even found my own name mentioned a couple of times, and not even in a derogatory manner. Hey! Maybe this book is worth $34.95 after all. I must say after going through the whole book, I would highly recommend it, I enjoyed it very much. And to all my friends who know that I would never

Pay that much for a book, I’ll tell the truth. I originally purchased it for my mother as a Mothers Day Gift. But I think I will go purchase a copy for myself, after I check and make sure some of the pages are not blank.
